The spring season has been very rainy and I have noticed my roses starting to form black spot. What can I do to get rid of this?

Unfortunately, once black spot appears on a leaf, nothing can be done to undo the damage.  The best thing to do is to cut off the diseased leaves and spray with a fungicide to keep the new leaves healthier.  In the future remember to water at the base of the plant, water sitting on the foliage is an invitation for disease.

Should I wait till I see insects and diseases to begin to spray or dust my roses?

No. It is very important to prevent insects and diseases in your roses by beginning to spray or dust, both newly planted and established roses as soon as growth begins and the little leaves are about 3//4 inch long. Use a multi-purpose rose spray or dust once or twice a month until frost in the fall.
